Create Openstack PowerKVM images

PowerKVM host can be managed by OpenStack, add images into the OpenStack image repository (Glance) that can be used to deploy instances on the PowerKVM host.

While creating images ” glance image-create ” considers x86 as default architecture.                Ensure that the image architecture property is set to ‘ppc64’. This is required so that the nova scheduler can select the host with the right processor architecture to deploy the instance. Otherwise the scheduler has no way to know whether to deploy the image on Power or Intel hosts.

Example:

#glance image-create –name=rhel –is-public=true –disk-format=qcow2 \
–container-format=bare –file=/var/lib/libvirt/images/rhel.qcow2 –property architecture=ppc64
